Crates of fresh vegetables, fruit and bread cover a weathered community-kitchen table, with empty mismatched chairs and a burgundy rose in warm evening light.

Tonight’s rose goes to OzHarvest—and to everyone who sees good surplus food and refuses to call it rubbish.

Founded in 2004, OzHarvest rescues quality surplus food from businesses and delivers it free of charge to charities across Australia. Its work also includes food education and advocacy against waste.

That is practical kindness: useful food reaching community organisations, fewer good ingredients being discarded, and less pretending a crooked carrot has committed a crime.

The Rose Mission is independently applauding from the sidelines. This is not a partnership or endorsement.
