The person behind the page
I’m Paul Gavshon. Gav will do. South African-born, Australian by passport, with a fair bit of Ireland still in the telling. I write about the people doing the work while the important people are busy explaining why it can’t be done.
Why I started
I have spent enough time around business, government language and the machinery of reputation to know how easily selfishness can be dressed up as responsibility.
Rules are applied downward while exemptions travel upward. News calls itself neutral while ownership, access and attention bend the frame. Banks finance damage, then advertise virtue. Celebrity and influencer culture make excess look like achievement.
Animals become units. Minorities become headlines. The earth becomes somebody else's problem. Then a statement, campaign or apology arrives and everyone is expected to move on.
I do not want to move on.
The whole biography
I am South African-born and live in Australia. I have worked in kitchens, hotels, remote places and ordinary businesses. Useful experience, yes. A reason to put me on a pedestal, no.
I am a father. That is the beginning and end of the mission. I want my children to inherit more wild animals, more dignity, more honest institutions and fewer adults pretending not to see what greed has done.
I am not above the contradiction. I have bought convenience, trusted respectable language and looked away when life felt busy. The Rose Mission is not a claim to purity. It is a decision to become more answerable for what I support, buy, repeat and ignore.
The Rose Mission is simply what I can do: ask the awkward question, check the facts, write down the truth and point attention towards the human beings already doing the repair.
The law nobody can rewrite
Governments can rewrite rules. Corporations can rewrite reports. Publicists can rewrite reputations. Nature does not negotiate.
Take more than a living system can replace and something breaks. Poison the air, water or soil and no amount of wealth buys a second planet.
No title, bank balance, follower count or red carpet changes the truth: we are animals too, we breathe the same air and we all return to the same earth.
I am not asking to be admired. I am asking all of us—including me—to be answerable.
The promise

Support links go directly to the featured organisation. The Rose Mission handles no money.
Big charities face the same questions as governments and corporations: where did the money go, who decided and who benefited?
The work matters more than the person holding the pen. This is not a monument to me.
Power carries the greatest responsibility, but knowing participation still carries responsibility.
Sources stay visible. Limits stay honest. Mistakes get corrected.
